Traditional French Bakery Opens in Plainfield
August 18, 2008

Plainfield, IL - Residents of the western suburbs no longer have to travel for miles for traditional baked goods. French Cakes Patisserie, Inc., a Parisian-style bakery, opened on August 18, 2008. They are located on the retail corridor connecting Naperville and Plainfield at 12337 S. Route 59 in Plainfield.
Trained at the exclusive French Pastry School, Chef-Owner Cristine Patolot and Chef Elisabeth Michaelis prepare daily selections that include pastries, breads, tarts, French Mousse cakes, croissants, petits gateaux, chocolates and truffles. In addition to their retail offerings, the company plans to offer a selection of catered items and wholesale desserts for restaurants.

Both Ms. Patolot and Ms. Michaelis were selected to assist world-famous chefs at the World Pastry Forum, aired by the Food Network. And, both have studied under world-famous cake designers and Food Network judges Nicholas Lodge, Colette Peters and Kerry Vincent. The influence of their mentors, Nicholas Lodge, internationally known for his unique skills in sugar art, and Jacquy Pfeiffer, a masterful stylist whose creations have graced the tables of such celebrities as Michael Jordan, Michael Jackson and Oprah Winfrey, can be seen in their custom-designed wedding cakes and life-like gum-paste florals. They have also worked with world-famous chocolatiers Thomas Haas and Jean-Pierre Wybauw.

According to Cris Patolot, Owner of French Cakes Patisserie, "It's taken five years of planning, but we're finally able to offer a touch of Paris in our own community. We want people to relax and linger in the shop, take in that heavenly aroma, and chat with us for a while. We love to talk about how a particular dessert is made and which ingredients make it taste so good. Most of all, we love it when customers sample a few items and then take their favorite home to their family and friends."
